Zen Meditation Retreat – March 25 & 31, 2026
At Kōun-in Temple, we will be holding regular Zen Meditation Retreats from February through March, designed to help you restore balance to both mind and body through zazen meditation and traditional shōjin (Buddhist vegetarian) cuisine.
After quiet time in seated meditation within the temple grounds, you will enjoy a seasonal shōjin meal prepared with fresh ingredients from local farmers.
Step away from the rhythm of daily life and spend meaningful time reconnecting with yourself.

Program Flow
10:00–14:15 (approx. 4 hours)
- Tea Time (20 min)
Upon arrival, enjoy a quiet cup of tea in the temple grounds to settle your mind. - Zen Wellness Yoga (15 min)
Gentle stretching and breathing exercises to prepare the body for meditation. - Zazen Meditation (50 min)
Seated meditation in the main hall under the guidance of a Buddhist monk. - Shōjin Cuisine (60 min)
A seasonal vegetarian meal made with local ingredients, enjoyed with traditional dining etiquette. - Sutra Copying (60 min)
A quiet, reflective practice of copying sutras by hand. - Dharma Talk (15 min)
A short talk by the monk, sharing practical Zen wisdom for everyday life.
